Sunwoda unveils Xingchi Supercharge Battery 2.0 and new battery range

Xingchi Supercharge Battery 2.0 takes centre stage

Sunwoda Power has unveiled a broad range of new batteries, placing particular emphasis on its latest generation of ultra-fast-charging units, alongside sodium-ion batteries and battery systems with integrated artificial intelligence.

The headline product was the Xingchi Supercharge Battery 2.0, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery designed for passenger electric vehicles. It supports a peak charging rate of 15C, enabling charging from 5% to 95% in 9 minutes, or from 5% to 75% in 5.5 minutes.

The battery pack shown at the event uses 264 prismatic cells, delivering capacity of more than 98.8 kWh at 844.8 V. Its maximum current is 1,800 A and its service life exceeds 1,500 cycles. Company executives said the use of ultra-fast charging is unrestricted throughout the warranty period.

Two further passenger-car batteries were also introduced: a long-life version claimed to have no degradation during its first year and 10% degradation over 10 years, plus a range-balanced battery for hybrid vehicles using large cylindrical cells. The hybrid-focused battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes.

Sunwoda fast-charging technology development

Sunwoda said it began developing fast-charging technology in 2019, progressing from 4C in 2022 to 6C in 2024. Its newest generation has now reached 15C for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and 8C for ternary lithium batteries.

For commercial vehicles, the company presented a dual-charger charging system with peak charging power of 1.44 MW.

Hybrid batteries and energy storage cells

Within the hybrid vehicle segment, Sunwoda introduced battery packs with capacities from 3 kWh to 7 kWh, based on cylindrical cells measuring 46 mm in diameter. For instance, the 5 kWh battery provides 150 kW of output and an all-electric range of more than 15 km, while incorporating DC and 12 V systems into a 414 V architecture.

For energy storage, Sunwoda launched several sodium-ion and lithium iron phosphate battery cell models. According to Xu Zhongling, president of the company’s Central Research Institute, sodium batteries can withstand more than 20,000 cycles at room temperature and over 10,000 cycles at high temperatures.
