Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 launches in China for $395

Xiaomi has expanded its Mi Home robot vacuum range with the new Xiaomi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6. One of its key upgrades is the higher suction power: it now reaches 28,000 Pa, compared with 23,000 Pa on the Mop 6 Pro. In theory, this should improve the collection of fine dust and debris, particularly from carpets.

The more significant revision, however, is its approach to wet cleaning. Xiaomi has replaced rotating mop pads with a roller-based mopping system. The roller is continuously supplied with clean water, while an integrated scraper removes dirt, which should prevent grime from being spread around during cleaning.

Brushes, navigation and obstacle clearance

Alongside its main brush, the robot has two extendable side brushes to reach corners and edges more effectively. At only 90 mm tall, it is relatively slim and should fit beneath most furniture. Navigation relies on built-in cameras for obstacle detection, with Xiaomi claiming that it can recognise up to 220 types of object. It can also cross small thresholds up to 40 mm high.

Docking station and price

The docking station handles part of the maintenance process. It can wash the roller with hot water at 80°C, and its tray is removable for cleaning. Like Xiaomi’s other smart devices, the robot can be controlled through an app and incorporated into a wider smart home system.

In China, the vacuum is priced at 2,699 yuan, approximately $395, making it less expensive than the Pro model.
